Film buffs will now get the opportunity to connect with similar minded people on Criticker, a Web 2.0 user driven movie review and recommendation community. It is a mashup from the same people who brought us the popular Random Good Stuff blog. The basic concept behind the Criticker is to pull movie data, critic reviews and summaries, mashing them together and letting people rate movies that they have seen. When you click on a movie, you are welcomed with a good statistics of it, including a short summary, genre, direction, and the starcast.
While the design of the home page is neat and clean, I was bit puzzled after I clicked on the movie title. It gets a bit tough to differentiate between the site content and the ads. The fun movie site helps you discover which critic opinions best match around. You go through a list of 50 movie sites without signing up for an account. Membership is totally free and signing up takes just a couple seconds. The site lets you rank the films on a scale of 0-100. The site generates a TCI (Taste Compatibility Index) that match your taste with other Criticker users.
It’s basically a social network for movie buffs. Well, the Web 2.0 communities are always welcomed by the people. Now, if Criticker puts effectively into practice the notion of cross-network community, it will certainly reach new heights. We wish them all the best.
